Let's ACT on it. Australia has spoken - give us a Human Rights Act

WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO DO?
We are asking that individuals and groups in Queensland take the time to consider human rights, and the kind of community we want, so that we can better inform our governments of our requirements.

Our first call is that a comprehensive Australian human rights act be implemented. If the national act ignores any fundamental human rights, this will surely disadvantage some individuals and groups in our society.

Secondly, each state should also have effective human rights acts in place. This will ensure that these governments provide everyone with equal rights to access services such as education, health care and housing.

Thirdly, we believe human rights education is an essential tool in fostering a society that respects human rights and thereby strengthening our democracy.

Now that the National Consultation on Rights has reported, we need to let the Federal Government that it is time for a fair go. Human rights must be promoted and protected.

Go to what can you do? to see how you can make your voice heard.

Australians need a human rights act that promotes and protects all human rights.

SECOND CALL
Queensland and the other states also need human rights acts to promote and protect those rights relating to state areas of responsibility.

THIRD CALL
As part of developing a human rights culture, human rights education should be a priority.
