Youth Advocacy Program

Just Rights Queensland is partnering with Youth Affairs Network of Queensland (YANQ) to present a series of workshops for people aged 14 to 17 years during 2007 and 2008 culminating in the YANQ state conference.

The aims of the program are four-fold:

1. Young people conducting critical analysis of current human rights and social justice issues
2. Young people identifying issues that concern them individually and as members of the community
3. Young people getting to know other young people as part of building networks taking them through school and beyond
4. Young people developing skills and identifying pathways they might use to advocate solutions to their concerns.

The first workshops scheduled:

  • Brisbane Boys Grammar, 15 March 2007
  • Kenmore State High School, 23 March 2007
  • Amnesty International youth conference in April 2007
  • Young Carers in March 2008. Click here to see the flyer for this workshop.
