The following program of activities represent JRQ's current priorities.
A fair go for Australians - A fair go for Queenslanders
- A comprehensive human rights charter for Australia
- A supporting human rights charter for Queensland
- Human rights education at schools and for all citizens
- Electronic petition being developed
- Writing letter or emails to national and Queensland government political leaders
Working Together for Indigenous Self-Determination (WTFISD)
- Self-determination workshops such as the 27 January workshop
- Establishment of WTFISD working group and email groups
- Support and host talking circles, cultural activities and Indigenous events
Human rights in the 'War on Terror'
- Highlight issues with the Australian Anti-Terror Legislation
- Campaign for the closure of Guantanamo Bay and refugee detention facilities
- Supporting the work of Queensland peace and social justice organisations and networks, including Australia at the Crossroads
Campaigning against the death penalty in our region
- Contribute to the Australians Against Capital Punishment campaign
- Highlight and support the work of Amnesty International and others
- Working with Concerned Psychogists Qld to advocacte that our children should have legal protection from violence
- Workshops with participating schools and youth groups
- Provide programs for youth groups wishing to form networks
- Linking in with Amnesty Interntional and Youth Affairs Network Qld conferences
