Just Rights Queensland
Campaigning for human rights for all Queenslanders

Welcome to Just Rights Queensland

Australia is the only OECD country without a Bill of Rights.

Everyday, someone in Australia finds they have been deprived of their basic human rights. They then often find no legal recourse available to them to have these wrongs addressed.

Additionally, in the absence of overall human rights protection, governments can make laws and policies that adversely affect our rights without scrutiny or accountability.

Just Rights Queensland was established by Queensland citizens to raise awareness of rights issues affecting fellow citizens and campaign for a fairer, more enlightened society.

A fair go for Australians - a fair go for Queenslanders

JRQ's major campaign during 2008 is calling for

  1. a comprehensive human rights charter for Australia
  2. a supporting human rights charter for Queensland
  3. human rights education at schools and for all citizens.

Visit the Fair Go website for more information on this campaign.

A number of events have been organised to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Go to news and events for details.
